Amazeballs Book Addicts Author Spotlight

A couple of weeks ago, the lovely Gia and Tabitha at Amazeballs Book Addicts were kind enough to have me as their featured author of the day.  Read on for the short interview...

1.  Can you tell us a little about your books?

The Heal Me Series is powerfully passionate, breathtakingly sexy and tenderly erotic.  They are hot, sexy, swoon-worthy and with a book boyfriend to die for!  Nate will leave you breathless and needing a cold shower (just saying).  It isn't your typical 'broken billionaire with commitment issues saved by a girl who instantly falls in love with him' type of story.

2.  When did you know you wanted to write a book?

I've been a passionate reader from a young age.  The idea to write came when I had a recurring dream of a scene between Nate and Kara that wouldn't go away!  I decided to write it down and didn't stop until I had an entire story.  Now I'm addicted to writing, to my characters, and the stories they have to tell.

3.  How did you choose the genre you write in?

Contemporary and erotic romance are my favourite genres to read.  I'm not sure I could be fully invested in writing a story that was in a different genre.  When I finish writing a book (and I know there hasn't been that many - yet!) I always like to sit back and think, "Yeah, I'd read that and enjoy it."

4.  If your book were made into a movie, who do you picture playing Nate and Kara?

The book trailer for Salvation is great casting IMO!  I've never publicly stated who my muses are because I like readers to develop their own idea/fantasy.  Some suggestions they've given to me for Nate are Justice Joslin, Matt Bomer, David Gandy, Henry Cavill - I'm good with any of them and happy to do a casting couch anytime!  I'm a sucker for a suit, dark hair and blue eyes...sigh.

5.  Do you have a favourite spot to write?

To be honest, I don't care where I am so long as the words are flowing!  A lot of my writing is done at my desk when I have the house to myself.  Concentrating with three young children demanding my attention is hard.  Being blessed with the beautiful weather in Sydney, I'll often take the laptop outside and sit in the garden.

6.  Do you work with an outline, or just write?

Every story is different.  With Salvation, I just wrote the scenes that played out in my head.  I thought I had a rough idea of the story, but it turned out the characters had other plans for it!  The arc and character dynamics completely changed from my first draft.  I had a brief outline of Forgiven developed as I wrote Salvation.  So far, the story hasn't sprung any unexpected surprises my way and is pretty much sticking to plan.

7.  What writing projects are you currently working on?

It might be easier to tell you what I'm NOT working on, ha ha!  I currently have four projects on the go which is a first for me as my published books were written one at a time.  Forgiven is Book 2 in the series, and the conclusion to Nate and Kara's story, written entirely in his POV.  Nate is very different to Kara in personality, so it's interesting being inside his head.  Temptation (Book 3) is a full-length standalone featuring Mai (Kara's BFF).  Anyone who has met her already knows the girl has zero filter, speaks her mind, knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go after it.  I'm having a blast with her!  Book 4 is untitled, and I can't give too much away about it right now.  Finally, Slow Dance is a standalone with entirely new characters that I'm roughly outlining.  It's a second chance romance, and I'm already in love with my characters and their story.
